SRC Food Pantry - MAnhasset
The SRC Food Pantry operates out of the Hagedorn Community Center - Manhasset/Great Neck EOC located at 65 High Street in Manhasset/Great Neck. The pantry is open every Tuesday from 5-6:30 pm. Grocery bags provided or bring your own. The Pantry has non-perishable items, seasonal produce and frozen foods provided by donations from individuals, Island Harvest, Trader Joe's, and Long Island Cares. The SRC Food Pantry occasionally hosts special events throughout the year for Mother's Day, Back-to-School, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Volunteers are always welcomed. Strong volunteers are especially needed between 3:30-5:00 for setup and volunteers with flexible schedules and reliable vehicles are needed to pick up contributions from:
Long Island Cares: 10 Davids Road in Hauppauge
Tuesdays at 2pm
Island Harvest: 875 Jerusalem Avenue in Uniondale
Tuesdays at 2:15pm
Trader Joe’s: 425 S. Oyster Bay Road in Plainview
If you would like to provide food items, there are collection bins located at each of our church locations for you to drop off donations. Top needs for the pantry are: baby food (jars), boxed milk, cereal, coffee, cookies/crackers, cooking oil, flour, canned fruit, juice (boxed, bottled or canned), cleaning supplies, jelly/jam, ketchup, laundry detergent, mac and cheese, pancake mix, paper products (toilet paper, napkins, paper towels), pasta, personal supplies (shampoo, toothpaste, soap, razors, makeup, shaving cream), rice (white), salad dressing, salt, shampoo, soap, stuffing, sugar, syrup, tomato sauce, and diapers of any size.
Financial gifts allow us to purchase food throughout the year. Each year, we give away turkeys at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and special items for children like backpacks for school or toys for the holidays. In order to comply with health regulations, we also need to purchase food storage equipment and make renovations to maintain a pleasant and clean atmosphere. When you give, please indicate “FOOD PANTRY” on your check or select the it on the drop down if you are making an on-line gift.
