Reflection - Art Williams

As we get closer to Resurrection Sunday/Easter Sunday, I am thankful for Christ’s sacrifice and mindful of my need to seek forgiveness and renewal in communion with the pioneer and protector of my faith, Christ Jesus. With so many distractions and urgent commitments it is too easy to get lost in my own goals or weaknesses and lose the perspective that gives me peace. “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you and all whose thoughts are fixed on you” Isaiah 26:3 NLT. It is Jesus, his sacrifice on the cross and his resurrection that allows believers to know the peace of the Holy Spirit, and the hope of salvation. “This is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life” 1 John 5:11-12. "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” 1 John 1:9. So as we celebrate Resurrection Sunday we know our sins are forgiven as we confess, (pray God's words back to him) and thank him for the assurance of Salvation in Jesus Christ. Be encouraged!

Nothing is more common to the human experience than change. Babies grow into adulthood; the young become older; seasons change but our God remains the same. James 1:17-18 says “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” In times of trial or success we depend on Christ. Romans 5:2-5, “We rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. 3 Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; 4 perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5 And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.” With God's love we can not only love him, but we can love ourselves and each other. Keep pressing on and expect God’s best in the new year. Be encouraged!
