Reflection, Jeff Benz - Elder
In our church’s walk through the book of Philippians we are about up to the part that says, “Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world.” I like that verse and find it easy to agree with when it’s just me, God, and my armchair. When I’m at work dealing with an unreasonable and demanding client it’s another story. For me, that’s when it becomes important (and particularly difficult) to remember those words. I think it’s helpful to keep in mind that we live in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, so we won’t be surprised by it. Also, remember that shining is worthwhile. Even when the world doesn’t seem to notice it or give you credit for it, God sees and is pleased.
