Reflections

Reflection, Jerry O’Sullivan - 2.10.17

Hebrews 10:24 “And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” Have you been watching the daily Dr. Luke Travelogue videos posted on the SRC website and app? It has been so encouraging reading through the book of Luke together as a church. What has been the most encouraging to me is watching the Travelogue videos and seeing both SRC staff and lay leaders spending time in God’s word to encourage their own souls but also to then encourage others toward love and good deeds. The readings are shorter so you are really able to meditate and focus on a few verses each day. Join hundreds of others here at SRC in reading through the book of Luke by going to our website or SRC app for the daily readings and video.

Reflection, Jim Owens

When I am upset or disturbed about something I find comfort when someone listens to me. My wife, Jill, is often the one who listens to me with empathy and without judgment or advice. It is a rare gift. The issue will not get resolved but having the space to express myself brings a comfort to my soul and brings clarity. As we read the Psalms we see how in prayer God listens to our thoughts, questions, anger and frustration with empathy and without judgement. Being listened to is a gift. Allow God to give you that gift through prayer. Go ahead, He is listening.
