Our Vision —
To reach NYC and Long Island with the gospel and join God in the renewal of all things.
Mission & Values
Our mission is to lead people into a transforming relationship with Jesus by committing to the following values.
Love God
At Shelter Rock Church, we love God and our ultimate purpose is to know Him and worship Him.
Love People
We love people, all people, with the same love, grace, and kindness that we ourselves have received from God.
Make Disciples
We make disciples, which means we help people learn and live the way of Jesus in the world.
Our Beliefs
We are a church deeply committed to sharing the gospel, the good news that when there was nothing that we could do to reach God, He reached for us. Through the person and work of Jesus Christ, God fully accomplished salvation for us, rescuing and restoring us, along with all creation so we can enjoy our new life together with Him forever.
The gospel of Jesus is proclaimed throughout the Bible, which we believe is God’s Inspired Word to us and serves as our primary source of authority.
Our Mentality
More than 75 years later, though our community has grown, this ‘missional mentality’ has not gone away. Like the first leaders who planted Shelter Rock Church, we will always seek to reach those who are unreached, focusing on an incarnational life more than a comfortable one. We will follow God’s leading into new communities with the renewing power of the gospel.
Our History
Our story begins in 1943 when a team of people from Flushing Baptist Church was sent to start a new church to reach Long Island. Leaving the comfort and familiarity of their church home behind, this small group of Christians stepped out in faith and began worshipping at the historic Onderdonk House on Northern Boulevard in Manhasset.
