Jeff Benz
Elder
Jeff grew up in Newburgh, New York. Soon after graduating from Columbia University with a major in English he married Darlene, and that’s how he ended up in Long Island. They started attending SRC in 2000 with their two little boys, Daniel and Steven, who are now grown and married to Annalisa and Fionna. Jeff’s first profession was as a teacher of high school English. He is now a court reporter. Jeff has served on the board since 2003 and has also served SRC by teaching adult classes, leading a small group, and serving on the prayer team. He enjoys reading many sorts of books. He has been the board’s chairman since 2018.
George Hsieh
Elder
George was raised in Long Island. He graduated with a degree in Math and Computer Science and has been working as an information technology consultant for over 30 years. He lives in Glen Head with his wife, Amanda, and two teenagers, Samantha and Brandon. George joined the church board in 2019 and is faithfully serving as led by the Lord. He enjoys good food, playing tennis and golf with friends, and traveling with his family.
Binu Jacob
Elder
Binu was born in Kerala, India, and immigrated to the U.S with his family when he was 10 years old. He grew up in a Christian home and accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at age 10. He graduated from the University of Stony Brook with a degree in mathematics and is currently working in supply chain. He and his wife, Staney, and their sons, Kevin and Eli, started attending SRC Manhasset in 2005. He has volunteered on the First Impressions team, as a teacher in middle and senior high, and as a small group leader. He joined the board in 2022.
Joe Varghese
Elder
Joe is a native New Yorker, born in Brooklyn. He has a BA in finance from Pace University. For over 20 years he has helped business owners and individuals with their financial and insurance needs. He and his wife, Sweena, have attended SRC since 2004. They have two beautiful daughters, Vivian and Kate. Joe is serving on the worship team and men’s ministry. He enjoys spending time with his family and is passionate about creating, recording, and jamming music. He joined the board in 2016.
Paul Gulamerian
Deacon
Paul was born in a small town 70 miles north of New York CIty. He holds a bachelor of science degree in Finance from Syracuse University and attended New York University graduate studies in Economics. He is presently retired but had a 37-year career in middle and senior level positions for Utrecht Manufacturing Corp., Toys R Us, Sears Holdings and CVS Health. Paul has been married to his wife, Joan, since 1983, and they have three children and six grandchildren. Paul has continued to serve at Shelter Rock Church since 1982, which was also known as Manhasset Baptist Church and Syosset Bible Baptist Church. Paul is passionate about developing people to achieve their full potential. He enjoys the beach, kayaking and traveling. He joined the board in 2023.
Sunil Samuel
Elder
Sunil was born and raised in New York spending most of his time growing up on Long Island. At an early age he knew the importance of a life walking with God but it was not until after college that his journey with Christ took off. He has worked in the field of higher education at a few of the local colleges and universities for over 20 years and always tries to instill his faith into everything he does. Now along with his wife Blessie and two kids, Lexi and Zach, they attend the Westbury campus helping with a few of the ministries in place. He is actively involved in the men’s ministry, helping to coordinate the Sunday morning service. Along with this he has led small groups and the Connections team at Westbury.
